mehfilaaley is a group of young professionals from across North America — Canada and the United States — who grew up between two worlds. We were raised here, but our hearts were shaped by the harmonium, the tabla, and the voices of those who came before us.
Founded by Steeven Singh Toor, whose devotion to qawwali runs hours deep every single day, mehfilaaley takes its name from what we believe a mehfil truly is: not a performance you watch, but a gathering you become part of. When we're all singing and clapping together, we are all mehfilaaley.
Having performed across the West and East coasts of North America, we've learned that the diaspora is hungry for this. They want to connect to tradition. They want their elders moved and their cousins off their phones. We know how to do both.
Qawwalis. Ghazals. Punjabi classics. Songs your dadi knows and your cousins just found on their Reels feed.
The heart of what we do. We bring the mehfil to your mehndi — high-energy, inclusive, intergenerational. Expect singing, clapping, tears, and laughter in the same breath.
From intimate family gatherings to full receptions, we tailor every set to the room. Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, new beginnings — we show up for all of it.
Based in the Greater Vancouver area with a core team that travels. We've performed in Toronto, New York, and beyond. Logistics are our strength — we keep your costs manageable wherever you are.
We've had the honour of performing for families across British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New York, and beyond. Each mehfil is different. Each one stays with us.
